People, Land and Mountain: The Sangkuriang Mythology

For the people of Bandung, especially the Sundanese, the existence of Mount Tangkuban Perahu, which is located in the north of Bandung, cannot be separated from the Sangkuriang mythology. In the Sangkuriang mythology, it is theoretically indicated that the social relationship is conducted on the basis of the concept of the ordered system in the form of the structure of the mythology. The structure of the Sangkuriang mythology shows dualistic differences which is closely related one to another. Therefore, the Sangkuriang mythology gives the important values for the social life and environment, so that it can also gives clear explanation of the culture and its relation with the people, land and mountain, including the forest and also everything inside it.
